While it's evident that wireless technologies can do many good things and provide enhancements in nearly every business process, making the decision to go 'wireless' shouldn't be made quick or without some serious consideration. The first big issue is that wireless networks can grow exponentially and out of IT's control, points out one research analyst. A wireless local area network (WLAN) is often initiated in an ad-hoc fashion--a huge mistake that can end up eating the savings and efficiency that a good wireless strategy can provide. The rogue access points present some serious security concerns as well, and that's just one reason why organizations that haven't yet gone wireless should be a bit wary of today's wireless generation technology. The best approach is an incremental approach, say analysts, and those enterprises already on the wireless bandwagon should be stepping back a bit to make sure they've got a handle on access and security measures.
